The Small Web

I’ve been thinking a lot about the early 2000s, when the web was still small, and not overwhelmingly owned by 3 companies in a trench coat. When self-hosting was the way you got your words out, and web rings were the name of the game.

I came across marginalia search earlier today and it’s fantastic. A small search engine for the small web, complete with an exploration feature reminiscient of old stumbleupon.

I’m writing this in hopes of indexing my site on there. Let’s go see how it works together!
